I like repurposing waste materials to use in my art. I find beauty in what is usually considered to be ugly and disgusting.
Lithograph and relief prints
To create these prints I picked up discarded plastics from my walks around Brighton. Sometimes I can see interesting textures and patterns by the way they have been squashed into the pavement. Then I take them home, wash and prepare them. Some I made into relief prints and another into a lithograph.
The Tesco Wrapper lithograph was produced by exposing the wrapper onto a metal plate. From the plate, I produced multiple images on an offset press where the image was transferred onto a roller and then printed from the roller onto paper – this is a two-step process.
The Bread and Multigrain relief prints are a one-step process. I inked up the wrappers and printed directly from them onto paper.
