About
My Practice
I breathe new life into discarded objects, reflecting the ever-evolving, imperfect nature of existence. I draw inspiration from the Japanese philosophy of Wabi Sabi; in a world obsessed with perfection, I explore the value of the irregular, flawed, and overlooked. My work emphasizes transformation – vitality and purpose which are evident even in neglect.
I work primarily with discarded materials such as plastic, paint and balloons. These materials are the foundation of my exploration into the circular economy. Through heat, inflation, weathering, and time, I push them to the brink of destruction. Guided by intuition and play, I create pieces that remain in a state of flux.
I call these objects Changelings. Ranging from wall pieces to soft sculptures, they are non-static, interchangeable, and site-responsive. These works mirror cycles of vitality and decay in both the physical world and the human experience. Much like these objects, people are often cast aside once their utility fades, a theme that resonates deeply within me.
As a mature artist, I grapple with invisibility and confronting my own mortality. My art challenges traditional notions of value, proving that the neglected are worthy of a closer look and of transformation. As these pieces are non-archival and will morph over time, my customers are custodians of the Changelings—after all, nothing lasts forever.
I also find joy and satisfaction through being an artist very much set in my location and the community of Brighton and Hove. I find inspiration and, I feel that I can be of use, working with local community groups working with disabled and older people.

Work
Alongside my art practice, I work part-time as a Learning Support Assistant for disabled and other students with additional educational needs with their art and fashion studies. I also regularly work with an organisation that provides support for neurodivergent, autistic and learning disabled artists to assist them in their practices.
Looking ahead, I have started to run workshops that combine spreading awareness of plastic waste and using waste plastics to create prints.
